Dimitris Liossis is someone who has given a lot to the Greek snowboard community and his goal has always been to promote and upgrade the country’s snowboard level. He is the reason of many well-organized snowboard events and in 2009 he was the team manager of Burton in Greece.
He was the one who decided to send two riders, Mike and me, in Laax Switzerland for the BEO (Burton European Open), a big -4 day- event with over 200 entries for the contest. Riders from all over the world and the whole Burton team were there for the 10 years celebration of the event. Despite the bad snow season in the whole Europe, the event was still on track. All “big names” were there, like Nicolas Müller, Peetu Piiroinen, Kevin Pearce, Danny Davis, Iouri Podladchikov, Stale Sandbech, Antti Autti and many more.
The riders’ level was high. It was the beginning of the season for us and we only had 4 days of training. It was too hard to reach the top, but overall it was great to compete in an international level. It was an “eye opening” experience, one that made me want to take my riding one step further.
